The Camp Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the summer camp program for Concord Church. The Camp Director is responsible for ensuring the care and safety of participants (grades kinder to 5th), and staff in the summer camp program.
The Director also provides guidance and support to the staff they supervise to ensure that activity planning, implementation and supervision is consistently meeting and exceeding expectations. The Summer Camp Director is responsible for communicating with all parents, guardians, teachers, counselors and other camp staff prior to, during and after summer camp.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role is an supervises the Summer Camp Team and Volunteers.
Essential Functions
- Develop, in conjunction with the Concord Staff representative, camp policies and procedures.
- Operate under the assigned operating budget for the camp and controls expenditures.
- Develop camp binder for future use, should include calendar and procedures.
- Participates in interviews and develops staff through training and supervision.
- Plan and conduct camp staff training at the beginning of camp and facilitate ongoing meetings and necessary trainings to keep staff informed and certifications current.
- Oversee the daily operation of the summer day camp and manage the overall health, safety, welfare and enjoyment of the campers.
- Manage and supervise camp staff.
- Construct reports and maintain documentation for Summer Day Camp.
- Works with the Camp Coordinator to create and implement camp activities, including weekly trips, and delegates responsibilities appropriately to staff and ensuring appropriate supplies, activities and communication with all relevant parties.
- Plan and implement weekly trips.
- Monitor camp staff timesheets and completes payroll.
- Ongoing maintenance of records such as camper and staff attendance, schedule and time sheets.
- Perform evaluations of camp staff at the end of summer.
- Determine appropriate action for behavioral or performance issues.
- Implement for annual camp evaluation for the overall program, staff and volunteers.
- Report any suspected abuse to supervisor in compliance with mandated reporting requirements
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Skills Needed
- Proven expertise in administration, formal training in Preschool Ministry required.

Education and Experience
- This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Ministry, Christian Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years proven expertise in administration and formal training in Children’s Ministry or Early Childhood Education required.
- Non-profit or ministry experience with a faith-based organization with at least 500 members/attendees, preferred.
- Advanced Skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and web savvy.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Experience working in an after school, camp, recreation or school setting.
- Experience providing supervision and guidance to members of staff.
- Experience working with children grades kinder to 5th grade.
- Experience scheduling and planning activities for children.
- Experience addressing camper behavioral issues with children, parents and staff.
- CPR/ First Aid certified preferred.
Physical Requirements
- An employee in this position primarily works in a typical office environment, is generally sedentary, and uses computers, calculators, phones, and other office equipment to draft documents, communication with church staff.
- An employee in this position is required to walk, hear, speak, and stand to interact with children, parents, staff, members, and volunteers.
- Work is conducted in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- The ability to manage stress, build professional, collaborative relationships, and reason through complex church business situations is required.
- A flexible schedule is required since this position requires evening and weekend work. This position may be expected to work overtime.
Travel Requirements
Travel is required for this position. A valid Texas drivers’ license and acceptable motor vehicle record is required.
