Organizational Overview
Exodus Ministries is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women transitioning from incarceration. Our mission is to reunite formerly incarcerated single mothers with their children while providing the services necessary to help them become self-sufficient, responsible, and productive.
Located in a multi-family apartment complex in downtown Dallas, Exodus Ministries offers transitional housing and a variety of supportive, faith-based programs for these women and their families.
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and mission-driven Family Advocate to walk alongside residents through their transition journey. Reporting to the Director of Case Management, the Family Advocate provides case management, advocacy, and emotional support to the women in our program. This position plays a critical role in helping residents achieve stability, reunite with their children, and rebuild their lives.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management & Advocacy
- Provide individualized support to residents through regular check-ins, goal-setting sessions, and needs assessments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes, documentation, and resident files in accordance with program policies.
- Advocate for residents in securing necessary services, including healthcare, education, employment, and childcare.
- Collaborate with parole officers, CPS caseworkers, and other external partners to ensure coordinated care.
Resident Support & Empowerment
- Assist residents with navigating challenges related to housing, employment, parenting, and legal obligations.
- Encourage personal responsibility, accountability, and growth by helping residents meet milestones in their individualized plans.
- Support residents through the family reunification process, providing emotional support and connecting them to appropriate resources.
Program Engagement & Coordination
- Work collaboratively with the program team to plan and implement life-skills classes, parenting courses, and support groups.
- Facilitate or co-lead group programming related to healing, growth, and self-sufficiency.
- Monitor and enforce program rules and expectations with compassion and consistency.
- Participate in program evaluations and help identify opportunities for improvement.
Administrative & Organizational Support
- Attend staff meetings, case conferences, and trainings as required.
- Assist with coordination of events and celebrations related to resident milestones.
- Provide input on program development based on trends and resident needs.
- Ensure all practices align with the organization’s mission, values, and trauma-informed approach.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in case management, social services, or direct client support.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care, reentry challenges, and the criminal justice system.
- Strong interpersonal and crisis intervention skills.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with case management software is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $36,550.00 per year
