Flower Mound United Methodist Church is seeking a 25 hour per week Children's Minister to provide vision, leadership and connection with children and their families. This includes engaging with families in relational ways to grow the larger church, providing resources to equip parents for faith development at home and offering regular programming to grow children in Christian discipleship. The Children's Minister position requires an ability to collaborate across a variety of ministry areas as well creating a welcoming and nurturing environment in the church for children and their families. Additionally, the Children's Minister will lead programming for children on Sunday mornings and afternoons with the goal of growing new disciples for Jesus Christ through the ministry of the United Methodist Church.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Collaborate with children's team to provide vision and leadership for children's ministry growth and implementation of that vision.
2. Create meaningful ways to connect children to the church through programming and connection.
3. Engage families relationally helping them to develop their children in the faith.
4. Teach and provide Sunday morning and afternoon children's programming.
5. Provide opportunities for children to be integral into the ministry of the larger church.
5. Represent and advocate for children's ministry within staff and lay leadership.
6. Coordinate with other ministry areas to support children's programming.
7. Manage children's ministry budget to provide consistent programming and curriculum.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree in an area of children's psychology, education or theology.
2. Previous experience working or volunteering in church settings, particularly the United Methodist Church.
3. Commitment to the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual nurture and safety of children and their families.
4. Ability to listen deeply to children's needs and respond with care and compassion.
5. Proficiency in lesson planning and curriculum content.
6. Creative thinking and the ability to develop engaging and fun programming for children.
7. Ability to teach and respond to children in an age appropriate manner.
8. Knowledge and commitment to the United Methodist Church's values, beliefs, and practices.
9. Skills to engage, equip and empower volunteers in children's ministry.
10. Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with diverse groups of people, including staff and lay leaders.
11. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
12. Outstanding time management and organizational skills.
Pay: $20,000.00 - $25,000.00 per year
