Good Shepherd Episcopal Church seeks a joyful, organized, and musically gifted professional to lead our children's choir and oversee the formation and administrative life of our elementary-age Sunday ministry. This is a single, integrated role for someone who understands that teaching a second-grader to sing is the same work as forming a second-grader in faith — and who finds both deeply satisfying. Our children's choir program is the heartbeat of this position: a weekly rehearsal during our Sunday school hour, a monthly place in the 10:30 service, and a monthly choral prelude that sends families into worship smiling. We are not building a smaller version of a children's conservatory. We are building a program where kids love to come, love to sing, and leave knowing that church is a place that belongs to them. Good Shepherd is the biggest, best small church in Texas — well-resourced, well-run, and genuinely committed to the formation of children and families. This position offers a flexible, outcomes-focused schedule, a talented accompanist, a supportive staff team, and the opportunity to grow professionally through the Royal School of Church Music's Voice for Life program. Compensation begins at $45,000, with single benefits coverage provided and family or couple coverage available for purchase.

Essential Functions:
- Children's Choir Direction: Lead a weekly 9:15–10:15 Sunday morning rehearsal for second through fifth graders; prepare the choir to sing at least once a month at the 10:30 service; cultivate a rehearsal culture that is joyful, embodied, and age-appropriate — one where hand motions, easy instruments, and enthusiastic participation matter more than technical perfection.
- Musical Formation and Professional Development: Develop a scope and sequence for children's musical and choral development, using the Royal School of Church Music's Voice for Life curriculum as a guide; pursue relevant RSCM training and credentialing with the support of the parish; collaborate with the parish organist and the choir's accompanist to maintain a coherent and encouraging musical culture across the program.
- Godly Play Program Administration: Recruit, train, and support volunteer teachers for the Godly Play program serving children ages three through six; maintain the integrity and warmth of the Godly Play method; ensure classrooms are prepared, teachers are equipped, and the program runs smoothly each Sunday.
- Family Newcomer Follow-Up: Serve as the primary administrative point of contact for newcomer families with elementary-age children; conduct first follow-up conversations for those seeking baptism for their children, track engagement, and connect new families to the choir program, Sunday formation, and parish life in ways that support long-term belonging.
- Program Coordination and Team Participation: Attend Monday all-staff gathering and Wednesday staff meeting; coordinate logistics for the children's choir and Sunday formation programs including scheduling, communication with families, and management of the choir accompanist; support nursery administration as needed in collaboration with the nursery coordinator.
