Main Function
The Volunteer Recruiter will identify prospects who possess the gifting and spiritual maturity to serve in Children's Ministry. The Volunteer Recruiter will do so by working with the RPC Kids team to understand specific volunteer needs, build partnerships with individuals and other ministries to access pools of potential volunteers, and define a process for ongoing recruitment. This individual will exhibit strong communication, networking, and influencing skills, and a process-oriented mindset.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Share the mission and vision of RockPointe Church and RPC Kids in a compelling way to all with whom you network; invite people to join the mission of RPC Kids
- Recruit and encourage volunteers that share a passion for missions and children
- Design a volunteer recruiting strategy that takes place all year long; partnering with ministry leaders and ministry volunteer coordinators to implement and execute
- Work with Children's Minister to determine the target number of volunteers needed; reevaluate at the Children's Minister's direction
- Know the current needs and volunteer role descriptions of each ministry area
- Create a pipeline of volunteer prospects through networking on Sunday mornings and within ministry events; engage and minister to this pipeline as you move them from prospect to volunteer
- Work with RPC Kids Administrator to ensure there is a clear and consistent process for new volunteers
- Champion an "everyone recruits" mentality by training the ministry staff and team leaders on how to recruit within their areas
- Effectively communicate stats of pipeline, conversions, and networking activity at team meetings
- Attend all "Dinner with the Pastor" events to network and promote serving in RPC Kids
- Attend all "Membership Matters" classes to meet with new members who are interested in serving in RPC Kids
- When an individual inquires about serving, be the first touch with that prospect by calling and thanking them for their interest in serving, answering questions, providing direction, explaining next steps, and making the handoff to the ministry leader and ministry volunteer coordinator
- Work with other ministries within the church to schedule opportunities to share the mission of RPC Kids and the opportunity to serve
- Work with Children's Minister and Creative Team to create a social media recruiting plan that can be implemented by the person who posts for RPC Kids
- Work with Connections Director to obtain prospecting lists
- Partner with the NextGen staff to organize and implement an annual "Say Yes" volunteer recruiting campaign
Other Duties
- Attend weekly Children's Ministry staff meetings
- Attend Children's Ministry or RPC staff planning/spiritual retreats or conferences, when able
- Attend level 1 events, e.g., CrossTraining, Christmas, Easter, and Promotion, as directed by the Childcare Director & Children's Minister
- Help plan the yearly volunteer and team leader connection events with other staff
- Help plan and execute level 1 events for Children's Ministry, such as CrossTraining and Easter
- Notify Children's Minister of any changes in volunteer positions in the birth-5th grade area
- Report any needs and issues that may need the attention of the Children's Minister in a timely manner
- Clear understanding of, and commitment to modeling our RPC Staff Values
- Handle and safeguard confidential church information
- Actively attend Sunday worship services
- Attend required staff meetings (1st & 3rd Tuesdays and any team meetings)
- Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor
Skills & Attributes
- Basic knowledge of, or ability to learn, platforms used by RockPointe Church: Bamboo, TouchPoint, eSpace, Nexonia, Martus, Asana, Canva, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
- Task-oriented mindset
- Show a willingness to learn the workings of the RPC Kids media stations and check-in system
- Ability to interact with a wide range of people compassionately and patiently
- Ability to juggle multiple projects with a high degree of accuracy
- Operate as a self-starter and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
