WORK HOURS: Full-time, weekdays (including some evenings), some weekends
WHOM WE SEEK
We seek an energetic and spiritually mature individual with (1) a passion for community outreach, (2) a demonstrated ability to connect community outreach to Christian discipleship, and (3) a demonstrated record of increasing responsibility in program development, volunteer recruitment and support, and collaborative partnerships. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively both in collaboration with others and on their own, and will possess excellent organizational and administrative skills, communication skills, and leadership skills. Ordination is not required for this position, but interested candidates who are ordained are encouraged to apply; if called, an ordained person would share in all presbyterial ministries.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director for Mission & Outreach oversees all aspects of the Mission & Outreach ministries of Saint Michael and All Angels, including but not limited to the following:
Provide oversight, coordination, and strategic guidance for all Mission & Outreach activities, including close collaboration with the Mission & Outreach Standing Committee and other parish groups invested in Mission & Outreach efforts.
- Help sustain current Saint Michael mission and outreach initiatives and cultivate new opportunities that align with the Saint Michael core focus.
- Work collaboratively with the Mission & Outreach Standing Committee to strengthen relationships with current community partners, assess effectiveness of programs and initiatives, and identify new partnerships.
- Develop, lead, and assess international mission trips supported by Saint Michael and equip other staff and clergy to participate as well.
- Encourage parishioner engagement and participation in mission and outreach activities and related initiatives designed to foster discipleship and spiritual maturity.
- Oversee and help coordinate efforts to recruit, train, and support parishioners involved in mission and outreach initiatives.
- Help parishioners reflect on how their participation in Mission & Outreach initiatives contributes to the development of their faith and spiritual practice.
- Ensure volunteers are appropriately equipped with Safe Church training
Work collaboratively with staff in Mission & Outreach and other departments in furtherance of the Saint Michael core focus.
- Lead, manage, and hold accountable staff and volunteers in a manner consistent with the values of Saint Michael and practices identified in the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS).
- Supervise the Coordinator for Mission & Outreach and support the Coordinator’s efforts to plan, implement, and assess programs and employ appropriate metrics to track parishioner engagement.
- Serve on the ministry leadership team and collaborate on the development of initiatives that foster and encourage mature discipleship.
- Collaborate with other departments (i.e., Formation, Pastoral Care, Worship & Liturgy, Communications, Advancement, Operations, and Finance) to utilize resources efficiently and ensure positive outcomes for Saint Michael programs.
Support the community development and outreach efforts of the All Angels Foundation (AAF), Horizon Outreach Fund (HOF), Men of Saint Michael (MOSF), and Women of Saint Michael (WOSM).
- Assist and support the AAF, HOF, MOSM and WOSM in the assessment of grant applications, the disbursement of grants, volunteer opportunities, and the assessment of program effectiveness.
- Assist and support the AAF, HOF, MOSM and WOSM in the identification and development of new strategic initiatives.
At the request of Saint Michael leadership, represent Saint Michael at local, national, and international forums related to mission, outreach, and community development, and host appropriate presentations and gatherings at Saint Michael.

CORE COMPETENCIES
· At least five years of progressively demanding experience in outreach program management and community development.
· Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written, and digital).
· Highly organized and proficient in the use of digital platforms (e.g., Microsoft Office, Teams, Pushpay, etc.) and able to learn new technologies.
· Capable of working effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, complex, large-church system.
· Able to exercise mature judgement and confidentiality with a sensitivity to the needs and privacy of others (staff and parishioners).
