Director of College Ministry
This is a full time position that provides a salary commensurate with experience and outstanding benefits in a truth and grace filled work environment.
The Director of College Ministry helps college-aged people become deeply devoted followers of Jesus Christ by leading the Wesley House (ministry to SMU students) and ministering to HPUMC congregants while they are away at other colleges. This staff member also partners with HPUMC’s Mark Craig Leadership Network (MCLN) to minister to young professionals in Dallas. This position is a leadership role at HPUMC.

FLSA Status: N/A due to Ministerial Exemption

Working Hours: This is a full-time position, working at least 36 hours per week.
Anticipated Schedule: Monday 9-4:30 pm, Tuesday 9-4:30 pm and 6-10 pm, Wednesday 9-4:30 pm, Thursday 11:30-7 pm, Sunday 8-12 pm. (Monday through Thursday includes an unpaid 30 min break.) Additional retreats, overnight events, and weekend activities.
Additional hours may be necessary to meet the job’s demands at certain times of the year. All church staff will be asked to support and serve religious holidays and worship services, including Christmas Eve and Easter.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Wesley House Ministry (SMU Ministry)
- Cast and execute a compelling vision for how Wesley House will help SMU students grow as deeply devoted followers of Jesus Christ
- Serve as the primary preacher and teaching pastor for Wesley House events
- Represent Wesley House as a recognized SMU religious organization and attend all Campus Ministry Council meetings
- Work alongside the SMU Office of the Chaplain and Religious Life when possible
- Manage and maintain the Wesley House facility
- Manage department budget, resources, and fundraising as needed
- Cultivate personal relationships with college-age students and recruit, train, and equip volunteers for the work of relational ministry
- Provide pastoral care and recruit, train, and equip volunteers for the work of relational ministry
- Ministry to Other College Students
- Cast and execute a compelling vision for how HPUMC helps students who attend other colleges grow as deeply devoted followers of Jesus Christ
- Create a system whereby HPUMC maintains contact with students while they are away at school
- Create events/programming for students in Dallas for winter and summer break
- Young Professionals Ministry
- Partner with MCLN to cast and execute a compelling vision for how HPUMC helps young professionals grow as deeply devoted followers of Jesus Christ
- Help execute programming designed for Young Professionals
- Cultivate personal relationships with, and provide pastoral care to, young professionals and recruit, train, and equip volunteers for the work of relational ministry

Education and Desired Skills:
- Undergrad Degree, in the process of, or completed Graduate Theological Degree similar or equal to MTS or MDIV
- 3-5 years of college ministry experience or a related field
- Experience in a large church ministry setting
- Extensive experience and skills in preaching, public speaking, and teaching
- Knowledge of college culture and a willingness to work within that world
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and a positive attitude
- Exhibit a high degree of initiative and accountability
- Strong organization skills
