Position Summary
The Youth Pastor Intern will serve alongside the pastoral and ministry leadership team to help disciple, develop, and lead middle school and high school students. This internship is designed to provide hands-on ministry experience for an emerging leader who has a strong relationship with Jesus, a heart for the next generation, and a desire to grow in pastoral leadership.
The Youth Pastor Intern will assist in creating a safe, engaging, Spirit-filled, and welcoming environment where students can Know Christ and Make Christ Known.
Primary Responsibilities
Spiritual Leadership & Discipleship
- Assist in leading students into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Help plan and lead youth services, Bible studies, small groups, and discipleship opportunities.
- Pray regularly for students, families, and the youth ministry.
- Build meaningful relationships with students and provide encouragement and spiritual support.
- Assist with teaching, preaching, devotionals, and leading discussions as opportunities are provided.
- Model a consistent Christian life both inside and outside of ministry.
Youth Ministry Leadership
- Assist with the planning and execution of weekly youth gatherings.
- Help create an engaging environment that is relevant to middle school and high school students.
- Welcome and connect with new students and help them become part of the youth community.
- Assist in organizing games, activities, outreach events, retreats, camps, and special events.
- Help identify students with leadership potential and encourage their spiritual growth.
- Participate in follow-up with students and families when appropriate.
Team & Volunteer Development
- Assist in recruiting, encouraging, and supporting youth ministry volunteers.
- Work alongside the Youth Pastor and ministry leaders to build a healthy volunteer culture.
- Attend team meetings, planning sessions, and leadership development opportunities.
- Learn how to lead volunteers with humility, clarity, accountability, and encouragement.
Administration & Organization
- Assist with weekly ministry planning and preparation.
- Help maintain accurate attendance, guest information, and follow-up notes.
- Utilize Planning Center and other church systems as assigned.
- Assist with communication to students, parents, volunteers, and ministry leaders.
- Help manage event details, schedules, supplies, and other ministry logistics.
- Complete assigned responsibilities in a timely and organized manner.
Outreach & Community Engagement
- Help create opportunities for students to invite their friends and connect with the church.
- Participate in community outreach and service opportunities.
- Assist in developing a culture where students understand that ministry is not just about attending church but serving others and sharing the love of Christ.
Qualifications
The ideal Youth Pastor Intern will:
- Have a strong and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Demonstrate spiritual maturity, integrity, and a teachable spirit.
- Have a genuine love for teenagers and a passion for the next generation.
- Feel called to ministry and desire hands-on experience in pastoral leadership.
- Possess strong relational and communication skills.
- Be dependable, responsible, organized, and willing to learn.
- Be comfortable working as part of a team and receiving coaching and feedback.
- Demonstrate leadership potential and the ability to connect with students.
- Support the beliefs, mission, vision, and leadership of Freedom Village Church.
- Be willing to complete any required background checks and ministry safety training.

Commitment
Position: Youth Pastor Intern
Status: Part-Time / Internship
Reports To: Youth Pastor / Lead Pastor
Schedule: To be determined based on ministry needs, including regular youth gatherings, Sunday services, meetings, events, and occasional weekends.
