Position Summary: The 1st6th Grade Associate leads the elementary ministry with spiritual direction, clear vision, and hands-on oversight. In this role, you'll shape Gospel-centered environments where kids deepen their faith, families feel cared for, and volunteers are trained and empowered to serve well. Working closely with the Kids Pastor, you'll help bring the broader Kids Ministry vision to life.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Volunteer Leadership:
- Recruit, train, schedule, and care for volunteers serving in 1st6th grade
- Build healthy, dependable volunteer teams for Sundays and special events
- Develop leaders and coaches who can support classrooms and small groups
- Clearly communicate expectations, schedules, and ministry goals
- Foster a culture where volunteers feel equipped, valued, and excited to serve
- Sunday & Event Ministry Execution:
- Ensure Sunday environments run smoothly, safely, and with excellence
- Coordinate volunteer coverage and classroom readiness for weekly services
- Help plan and execute special events, seasonal experiences, and church-wide initiatives
- Troubleshoot and problem-solve in real time during services and events
- Teaching & Worship Collaboration:
- Assist with teaching on Sundays as needed (not primary teaching responsibility)
- Provide input and support for Kids Worship while partnering with those who lead it
- Help ensure teaching and worship experiences are engaging, age-appropriate, and aligned with ministry goals
- Spiritual Leadership & Pastoral Care:
- Support kids spiritual growth through engaging ministry environments and strong small group leadership
- Support and equip parents to be the primary spiritual leaders in their children's lives, partnering with them along the way
- Help kids take next steps in their faith journey
- Ministry Alignment & Administration:
- Partner with the Kids Minister to carry out the vision and direction of Kids Ministry
- Assist with scheduling, planning, and ministry organization
- Maintain accurate volunteer, attendance, and safety records
- Collaborate with church staff and ministry teams as needed
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and Skills:
- A growing, authentic relationship with Jesus Christ
- Passion for kids ministry and volunteer leadership
- Strong organizational, communication, and people skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, including strong conflict resolution skills
- Ability to recruit, develop, and motive a team
- Handling confidential matters with integrity
- Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints
- Flexible, receptive to direction and efficient at managing multiple projects
- Ability to plan and execute ministry events, including logistics and volunteer coordinator and comfort serving on stage or in front of groups when needed
- Knowledge of child safety, risk management, and compliance procedures (e.g., background checks, check-in, emergency protocols, etc.)
- Education and Experience:
- Preferably bachelors degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, or 4 or more years related experience, and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk for extended periods
- Proficiency in typing and using office equipment (e.g. printers, scanners, etc.)
- Capability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds
- Ability to work nights and weekends, as needed
