Position Summary
The AdoptionWorks Program Manager (AWPM) serves as a senior representative of the AdoptionWorks team to the organization, the community, and clients. This role oversees all adoption placement activities, manages casework services for prospective adoptive families and maternity clients, and ensures full compliance with licensing standards and agency policies. The AWPM collaborates with the Maternity Support Specialist and Family Development Specialist to supervise the matching process between expectant and adoptive families. Additional responsibilities include overseeing Post Adoption Support Group operations, supervising AdoptionWorks staff and volunteers, and contributing to program development and strategic planning. All responsibilities are carried out in a manner that reflects the mission and values of ChristianWorks for Children and represents Jesus Christ to clients and the community.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership and Administration
- Supervise all adoption placement activities including intake, orientation, and support services and oversee admission determinations and placement decisions to ensure quality and compliance.
- Manage and evaluate case plans, assessments, evaluations, and documentation to ensure compliance with DFPS standards.
- Present AW Orientation and AW Education classes to prospective adoptive families.
- Maintain and monitor the program budget to ensure responsible and compliant use of resources.
Staff and Volunteer Supervision
- Hire and supervise AdoptionWorks staff, volunteers, and group facilitators; provide performance feedback, mentorship, and ongoing training always staying abreast of ethically or clinically complex situations.
- Assign case responsibilities and monitor caseloads, ensuring manageable workloads (no more than 7-10 families per staff member).
- Oversees volunteer and facilitator recruitment, training, and development, stepping in to facilitate when necessary.
Client Services Oversight
- Ensure excellence in case management services for pre-adoptive and post-placement families.
- Direct post-adoption services including support groups, search and reunion services, and counseling support.
- Collaborate with clinical director for the coordination of CounselingWorks services for AdoptionWorks clients.
- Participates in a shared 24/7 on‑call rotation to answer calls from expectant parents regarding adoption services.
Program Development and Compliance
- Collaborate with the Clinical Director and staff to develop, revise, and implement AdoptionWorks policies, procedures, and curriculum.
- Maintain full knowledge and enforcement of DFPS Minimum Standards for Child-Placing Agencies Chapter 749 and 745 of the Texas Administrative Code and Chapter 162 of the Texas Family Code.
- Ensure the program maintains required training hours, licensure compliance, and documentation standards.
Community Engagement and Public Relations
- Represent AdoptionWorks at community events, conferences, and public speaking engagements, and develop partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders.
- Lead fundraising, outreach, and marketing initiatives including planning and executing the Annual AdoptionWorks Event in collaboration with the Development Team.
Training and Professional Development
- Complete 30 hours of professional development training in the first year and 20 hours in subsequent years.
- Provide internal training for AdoptionWorks staff, volunteers, and facilitators.
- Remain informed on best practices in trauma-informed care, adoption, and attachment-related work.
Qualifications
- Experience in public speaking
- Strong organizational, documentation and administrative skills
- Meet the qualifications established by the agency's governing body
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $56,565.14 - $68,121.46 per year

Experience:
- FT experience: DFPS, child-placing, or residential care : 2 years (Preferred)
