The Overnight Family Support Associate helps maintain a safe, calm, and supportive environment for the mothers and children residing at In My Shoes.
This is a sleep-permitted overnight position. The employee must remain on-site throughout each assigned shift, keep the duty phone accessible, and wake and respond promptly whenever a resident or household need arises. Designated on-site staff quarters are provided for use during assigned shifts.
The ideal candidate is mature, dependable, calm under pressure, and comfortable supporting pregnant and postpartum mothers in a residential environment.

- Reinforce established infant-safety and safe-sleep expectations.
- Observe for possible postpartum medical, emotional, or safety concerns and promptly notify the appropriate IMS staff member or emergency personnel.

- Use appropriate de-escalation practices when responding to resident conflicts.

- Remain on duty during an active emergency or unresolved safety concern until responsibility is transferred to another authorized staff member.
Documentation and Communication

- Complete incident reports promptly when required.
- Provide a clear morning handoff to the designated staff member or supervisor.
- Protect resident confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries.
- Follow all mandated-reporting, child-safety, emergency-response, and confidentiality requirements.
- Participate in required training, staff meetings, supervision, and performance evaluations.

- One additional weekend overnight shift each month from 6:00 p.m (Friday) until 8:00 a.m (Monday)
Specific coverage nights will be determined internally based on the needs of the home. Some scheduling flexibility is required, as coverage nights may occasionally change due to resident medical needs, holidays, staffing needs, or emergencies.
Sleep-Permitted Shift
IMS provides designated on-site staff quarters for the employee’s use during assigned overnight shifts. These quarters are separate from the optional off-site staff apartment and may not be occupied outside scheduled working hours.
Sleep is permitted when resident and household needs have been addressed. However, the employee must:
- Remain on-site throughout the entire shift.
- Keep the duty phone accessible.
- Wake and respond promptly whenever assistance is required.
- Remain awake when an active medical, resident, or safety situation requires continued attention.
The entire overnight shift, including permitted sleep time, is treated as paid working time.
Compensation and Timekeeping
The position pays $1,500 per month according to IMS’s regular payroll schedule.
This is a salaried nonexempt position. The employee must accurately record all hours worked, including overnight shifts, required meetings, training, emergency extensions, documentation completed outside the scheduled shift, and other authorized work.
All time actually worked must be reported and will be paid. Overtime compensation will be provided when total hours worked exceed 40 in an established workweek.
- The estimated housing value is not cash compensation and is not used to satisfy minimum-wage or overtime requirements.
- Employees accepting housing must sign and comply with a separate staff-housing agreement.
- Continued eligibility for staff housing is contingent upon continued employment in an eligible position.
The housing agreement will address the assigned room, shared spaces, utilities, guests, security, confidentiality, property care, prohibited conduct, and move-out requirements.
