Journey House Kids Lead Teacher – Role Description
Position Summary
Journey House is seeking a passionate and faith-filled Journey House Kids Lead Teacher to help disciple and guide children in a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered environment. In this role, you will play a vital part in helping children grow in their understanding of God, develop strong character, and build meaningful relationships within the church community.
As a Journey House Kids Lead Teacher, you will help create engaging and age-appropriate experiences that teach biblical truth while supporting the spiritual, emotional, and social development of every child. Your leadership will help cultivate a welcoming environment where children feel loved, valued, and excited to learn about Jesus.
This role provides a meaningful opportunity to impact the next generation by partnering with families and church leadership to support each child’s spiritual journey.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and lead engaging, age-appropriate Bible lessons and activities that align with the Journey House Kids curriculum
- Create a safe, welcoming, and spiritually enriching classroom environment for children
- Manage classroom behavior using positive reinforcement and Christ-centered guidance
- Ensure classrooms are prepared before service and properly reset and sanitized after service
- Lead activities, games, worship moments, and hands-on learning experiences that help children understand biblical truths
- Support children of various learning styles and developmental levels with patience and care
- Communicate with parents regarding their child’s experience, participation, and spiritual growth
- Work alongside Journey House Kids volunteers and team members to ensure smooth service flow
- Follow all church safety, check-in, and child protection policies
- Maintain classroom supplies, communicate needs, and help ensure the space remains organized and ready for ministry
Skills & Qualifications
- A heart for children and a passion for helping the next generation grow in their relationship with God
- Experience working with children in church, childcare, preschool, or educational environments
- Strong classroom leadership and positive behavior guidance skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and warmly with children, parents, and team members
- Creativity in leading activities, storytelling, and engaging children in learning
- Understanding of childhood development and age-appropriate teaching methods
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a ministry team
- Commitment to the mission, values, and culture of Journey House
