A Unicorn Church Gig for A Unique Musician
Creekwood Christian Church seeks Band Leader (Paid Position)
for Sunday morning Modern Worship Service beginning in Flower Mound, 11.30.2025.
Our church is a bit of a unicorn in North Texas. We mean what we say every Sunday- we are an inclusive community committed to sharing Jesus’s unconditional love and profound grace with everyone. Any given day, the people that walk through our doors are questioning, wondering, wandering, contemplative, deconstructing and reconstructing, justice-orienting and mercy-seeking, queer, science-y, neurodivergent, conservative, liberal and…that’s us.
We need a Band Leader who:
- Plays beautiful, singable, spiritually-resonant music,
- while coaxing sometimes reluctant congregants to sing along with joy,
- who enjoys working with passionate and committed volunteer musicians and has some leadership skills on board to wrangle them,
- and who loves the idea of employing many different kinds of music for an eclectic, inspiring mix- old-timey hymns in newer settings, Taizé meditations, honky-tonk psalms, Top 40 hits recycled for worship....and more.
We have a great group of volunteer musicians who are our band, who play with lots of skill and mixed availability. We have a drummer, an electric and an acoustic guitarist, a bassist/keyboard player, and three great vocalists, (all volunteers). We also have a professional sound tech and a great tech team. We want to count on you to lead worship with creativity and imagination, and to make different combinations of these band members and musical selections work. We would also love for you to be ready and willing to carry a Sunday on your own from time to time.
We need lead vocal/lead guitar skills, or lead vocal/lead keyboard skills.
We need collaborators who can help us develop musical themes for each worship service.
We’re looking for someone who is flexible, good with people, and reliable.
We need musicians a little cooler than us, but not too much.
We're prepared to pay actual money. To be negotiated.
