Job Title: Worship Director
Position: Full-time
Hours/Schedule: 40+ hrs/wk.
Schedule: S, M, T, W, TH (subject to change as needed to meet ongoing needs of Living Word)
The role of the Worship Director is to serve Living Word Church in overseeing and coordinating the worship ministry. The Worship Director takes on the responsibility of cultivating a life giving, passionate and skillful culture of worship at Living Word through the spiritual and musical leadership in services, special events and other ministry areas as needed.
SPIRITUAL
• Be a follower of Jesus Christ and demonstrate a growing maturity in faith and character
• Affirms and believes in the full expression of the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit
• Support the vision, mission and values of Living Word
• Maintain the qualifications of a spiritual leader according to scripture (1 Timothy 3)
• Demonstrate the heart of a servant leader, modeling humility and discipleship in the way of Jesus
• Has a consistent and disciplined devotional life which consists of daily bible reading, prayer, worship, etc...
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Preferred minimum of 2 years of experience leading worship at a local church or worship ministry schooling
• Experience leading and developing teams, preferably in a ministry setting
• Strong vocal and instrumental ability
• Strong time management skills
PROFESSIONAL & LEADERSHIP
• High-capacity, self-motivated individual who is comfortable working independently without constant supervision
• Interpersonal skills and patience working with different levels of worship volunteers
• Ability to work effectively and independently, as well as within teams
• Ability to develop and lead others
• Positive attitude
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Flexibility and willingness to assist with various other duties not otherwise assigned
TECHNOLOGY
• Proficiency in Multitracks and Google Docs
• Ability to learn and use Planning Center Online to input all setlists and schedules
WORSHIP
• Cast clear vision for the worship team and implement strategies for execution
• Plan and execute worship sets for all services and other special events as requested.
• Schedule worship teams for all services and other special events
• Maintain team, templates and schedules in Planning Center Services
• Lead weekly rehearsals
• Responsible for development and oversight of worship team structures and systems
• Update Planning Center with vocal arrangements, MultiTracks links, rehearsal recordings and any other materials to assist in preparing the team
CULTURE & TEAM DEVELOPMENT
• Lead and manage all worship team staff and volunteers
• Oversee culture and health of worship team
• Develop team members to assist in their growth as worship leaders, vocalists and musicians
• Oversee onboarding of new team members
• Oversee coordination of quarterly team gatherings
• Maintain regular communication with and oversight of all Living Word worship team, giving
regular and helpful feedback
• Provide regular updates and communication to the worship team as needed for church
updates/announcements
• Responsible for communication of expectations for all worship team including volunteers and staff
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides oversight and support for the sound team and their needs during services and events
• Maintain worship apps and software subscriptions and licenses, keeping all up to date
• Propose and manage approved worship budget in partnership with the Executive Pastor
• Follow all requirements associated with having a church credit card
• Expected to attend weekly staff, planning and team leadership meetings
• Advise on procurement and strategy of new music and equipment
• Maintain equipment repair logs and accurate inventory
• Assist Media Department in strategy and execution of website and social media content and postings
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• The ability and willingness to drive their own personal vehicle
• The ability to lift at least 50 pounds
