Organist/Accompanist

Job Summary:
The Organist/Accompanist is the primary keyboard musician for the congregation of LHPC. The Organist/Accompianist is directly responsible for keyboard music and accompaniment for all worship activities of the church. The position is employed by the Session of LHPC and reports to the Director of Traditional Worship. This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule for planning, preparation and rehearsals. Estimated hours are eight to ten per week with Sunday hours required. Other hours are established in conjunction with the Director of Traditional Worship, the Director of Contemporary Worship, and/or the Pastor.
What will I be doing?
The Organist/Accompanist duties and responsibilities are as follows:
· Serves as primary keyboardist for all regular and special (I.e. Maundy Thursday, Easter, Advent, Christmas) worship experiences as guided by the Directors of Traditional and Contemporary Worship
· Accompanies Chancel choir and praise team in all scheduled and ad hoc rehearsals
· Collaborates with the Music Department staff and Pastor to plan weekly worship
· Selects appropriate service music paired to liturgical, sermonic and seasonal periods
· Provides ad hoc musical leadership and coordination of funerals and weddings
· Attends Worship Committee meetings (generally held monthly on Sunday afternoons)
· Secures a substitute keyboardist when absent from rehearsals/worship as needed
· Engages regularly with individual musicians to provide special music during worship, including solo accompaniment and small ensembles
· Plans and implements musical events for the church and community in conjunction with the Directors of Traditional and Contemporary Worship
· Exercises creative social media to engage more people in the music, activity and life of the church

· Bachelor's degree in music
· 1+ year(s) experience accompanying individuals and groups
· Strong personal character and evidence of committed Christian faith
· Creative and visionary leadership in correlation with LHPC’s mission and vision
· Works well with other staff members and people of all ages in a collegial manner
· Strong organizational skills and completes work in a timely fashion
It would be advantageous for the candidate to demonstrate the following skills:
· Graduate-level degree or work in music
· Previous experience working with volunteer musicians
· Ongoing continued education

This is a part-time position.Paid time off is set a two weeks per calendar year and is available after six months of tenure. Salary will be discussed upon interview.
