The Associate Pastor, Social Justice & Missions provides leadership to the strategic initiatives that advance the social justice and missions efforts for Concord Church and the local community.
The Associate Pastor, Social Justice & Missions will foster and facilitate Concord’s engagement in service among the local community and promote efforts to call and act for justice. Its work includes engaging in evangelism, missions, and justice and providing guidance to members and staff on matters of social justice.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This role supervises the Ministry Coordinator, Social Justice & Missions and the Community Impact Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Provide oversight to Concord’s vision to create a ministry that involves and engages members that have a passion for social justice that we can organize, mobilize, and strategize for change in the local community.
- Oversee Concord’s social justice pillars:
- Education; Civic Engagement; Economic Empowerment; Mental Health; Aging Well
- Provide leadership for advancement of key strategic initiatives concerning the ministry and community partnerships.
- Serve as the point of contact and manage all ministry and community partners.
- Partner with Senior Pastor on Concord Church and the community segment.
- Serve as a liaison for Harmony CDC.
- Serve as staff contact for Prison Ministry and Prison Fellowship.
- Build out the annual ministry calendar and that creates opportunity for engagement.
- Manage logistics for the Senior Center and act as the liaison for Concord Church.
Missions & Community Outreach Ministry:
- Plan and lead annual church wide community outreach events (Bless Dallas, Community Expo, and Angel Tree, etc.).
- Build, maintain, and lead volunteer teams for the Social Justice Ministry.
- Build and maintain relationships with local organizations to understand community dynamics and how the church can meet their needs.
- Create opportunities for reaching new people in the community with the gospel.
- Partner with Harmony CDC on current strategic international partnerships.
- Plan and implement an annual calendar for multiple local and global mission opportunities and events.
- Create and review local and global partnership agreements annually.
- Serve as point of contact for Community Outreach efforts for Concord Church.
Pastoral Duties:
- Prepare regular reports regarding state of the Social Justice, Missions and Outreach.
- Attend and successfully completes all training required by Concord Church.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Christian Education from an accredited college or university. A Masters’ degree in biblical studies or divinity is preferred but not required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as an ordained minister/pastor in a setting committed to reaching the unchurched and developing leaders. A minimum of 3 years of experience equipping Christ-followers to grow in maturity in their faith and fostering growth in community through small groups is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of supervisory/leadership experience.
- Requires advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications which include Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, in addition to experience with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Survey Monkey, and other comparable tools.
- Ability to securely handle confidential information is required.
- Advanced Skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and web savvy.
- Attention to detail to minimize errors.
- Exceptional organizational skills and time management skills.
Physical Requirements:
- An employee in this position primarily works in a typical office or sanctuary environment, is generally sedentary, and uses computers, calculators, phones, and other office equipment to draft documents, communicate with church staff, and fulfill other position duties.
- An employee in this position is required to walk, hear, speak, and stand to minister to the members (both at the main church and at remote locations). Work is conducted in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- The ability to manage stress, build professional and collaborative relationships, and reason through both complex church business situations and profound personal crises that members may experience is required.
- A flexible schedule is required since this position requires evening and weekend work due to scheduled events.
Physical Requirements:
- An employee in this position primarily works in a typical office or sanctuary environment, is generally sedentary, and uses computers, calculators, phones, and other office equipment to draft documents, communicate with church staff, and fulfill other position duties.
- An employee in this position is required to walk, hear, speak, and stand to conduct sermons and minister to the members (both at the main church and at remote locations). Work is conducted in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- The ability to manage stress, build professional and collaborative relationships, and reason through both complex church business situations and profound personal crises that members may experience is required.
- A flexible schedule is required since this position requires evening and weekend work due to scheduled events.
Travel Requirements:
A valid Texas drivers’ license and acceptable motor vehicle record is required.
