Overview
We are hiring a new Ministry Leader for Unidos en Cristo, a new Hispanic outreach of First Presbyterian Church or Garland.
The Leader of Unidos en Cristo will serve as the primary catalyst in developing and leading a vibrant Hispanic ministry in partnership with First Presbyterian Church of Garland. This individual does not need to be an ordained pastor but must have a heart for sharing the transformative good news of Jesus Christ with our Hispanic neighbors. The leader must be bilingual in Spanish
Responsibilities
1. Community Engagement & Outreach:
- Meet and build relationships with Hispanic neighbors in Garland.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and community entities that can support the growth of and build up the ministry of Unidos en Cristo.
- Identify needs within the Hispanic community and develop ministry programs to address those needs.
2. Worship Leadership:
- Develop and nurture a weekly worshiping community that worships in Spanish.
- Plan and lead weekly worship services in Spanish, including preaching, music selection, and liturgical elements.
- Occasionally assist with and lead worship for the English service to help bridge relationships between English-speaking and Spanish-speaking communities.
3. Faith Formation & Discipleship:
- Connect Hispanic families with the church’s faith formation ministries.
- Work with the Faith Formation Ministry Team to ensure that the Sunday School and Youth Group are culturally relevant and welcoming to Hispanic youth.
- Support the spiritual growth and discipleship of Hispanic members.
4. Ministry Development & Administration:
- Design and implement ministry programs that respond to the needs of the Hispanic community.
- Develop leadership among Hispanic members to ensure sustainability of the ministry.
- Build and equip the Steering Team
- Serve as the chief fundraiser for Unidos en Cristo, identifying and pursuing funding sources to support the ministry’s growth and sustainability.
- Represent Unidos en Cristo to Grace Presbytery interpreting ministry goals and building partnerships.
- Maintain records and provide reports to the Session on the progress and needs of the ministry.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 20 per week
