Description:
This position provides administrative assistance to the International Student Affairs Coordinator/Designated School Official (DSO) and works directly with them on all matters related to USCIS and immigration services. Serving as the secondary DSO, the candidate will assist in maintaining SEVIS updates, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal regulations. The role also includes supporting immigration procedures within the department, addressing the daily needs and questions of international students both on and off campus, and providing oversight for the International Student Ministry.
Qualifications:
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident
- Have a working knowledge of Immigration Laws and SEVIS program within USCIS
- Exceptional skills in organization, and the ability to multi-task
- Administrative and Self-Motivated
- Customer Services skills a must
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication
Special Requirements:
- Must be prepared to work extra hours the weeks leading up to and the week of New Student Arrival.
- To be able and willing to communicate, minister, and instruct international students on their immigration status, situations and circumstances.
- Public speaking skills a must.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains proper SEVIS DSO requirements, including SEVP Training for Designated School Officials
- Operate within the SEVIS system to generate I-20 documents
- Assist in maintaining proper immigration statuses in SEVIS for all international students with CFNI I-20’s
- Available to sign and or distribute I-20 documents as needed/ in the absence of ISA coordinator
- Assist in the coordination and maintenance of the Practical Training programs (i.e. OPT/CPT), processes and procedures
- Help prepare for the annual international scholarship committee meeting
- Assist in the absence of International Student Affairs Supervisor
- Assist in preparing for and working during New Student Arrival for International
- students
- Execute special projects given by the International Student Affairs Coordinator
- Electronic file management of all international student documents and processes
- Answer, direct, and return phone calls and emails related to and from International Students
- Create and distribute Verification Letters for International students
- Create and distribute Invitation Letters for international family/friends attending graduation
- Coordinate events associated with the International Student Affairs Department
