SummaryAs part of a congregation team at The Austin Stone Community Church, the Operations Director/Executive Pastor (COD/CXP) is responsible for ensuring each of the congregation ministries performs efficiently and effectively in order to make disciples, multiply communities, and ultimately plant churches. The COD/CXP will ensure that the contextualized ministry of the congregation is consistent with the leadership, culture, philosophies and strategies of The Austin Stone, and that this ministry effectively utilizes the resources entrusted to the congregation team. The COD/CXP will report to the Congregation Pastor.
Essential Responsibilities- In response to the congregational vision, lead strategically & tactically, translating into clear programs, processes and ministry plans.
- Advance the continuity of the Assimilation, Spiritual Formation, Mobilization, and Family Ministries strategies at the congregation.
- Ensure strategic projects and ministry resources (human and material) are effectively and consistently deployed, assisting CXP to equip, empower, and assess ministry teams.
- Maintain quality relationships between the congregation and any partnering organizations.
- Formulate and implement effective congregation communication strategy, fostering connection and engagement through appropriate communication channels.
- Coordinate and execute thoughtful, well-communicated ministry plans.
- Identify, train and deploy emerging leaders into existing and new ministries.
- Provide pastoral care to deacons and non-staff leaders.
- Provide Supervision, coaching, and ongoing development to staff.
- Assist with budgetary management.
- Assess ministry effectiveness and support decision-making through data acquisition and analysis.
- Lend expertise to other Operations Directors as needed.
- Attend, serve, and lead at all required events and activities for The Austin Stone, including all Sunday services, staff meetings, prayer meetings, special events, retreats and staff development days.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, Master’s degree, preferred
- 7 years of operational or team leadership experience or equivalent
- Proven capacity to disciple and develop leaders in a variety of relational contexts

Gathers and analyzes information skillfully and can efficiently execute on multiple priorities/plans/ideas. Skilled in strategic thinking and analysis, logical oversight, long-term project management, and cost-benefit analysis.
Collaborative Leadership - Strong complementary leadership skills and capacity to lead in concert with other leaders. Demonstrated ability to network and connect with leaders toward Kingdom outcomes. Ability to integrate multiple perspectives and synthesize them into a cohesive plan.
Leadership Development - Skilled at multiplying leaders (staff, deacons, volunteers, etc.) who can communicate and uphold the values of The Austin Stone. Able to supervise and lead a motivated and diverse group of people by establishing a clear vision for the team, training and developing talent, providing feedback and ensuring the proper learning for each team member.
