General Summary
The Chief Operating Officer/Executive Pastor provides strategic leadership and operational leadership for the administrative and operational functions of Concord Church and serves as the bridge between vison and execution. Working closely with the Senior Pastor and the Executive Leadership team, the COO/XP ensures that the church’s mission, vision and ministry goals are effectively supported through strong organizational systems, financial stewardship, staff leadership, and operational excellence.
The COO/XP will help translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth helping to implement organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operating planning. The XP will function as an EOS integrator.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This role supervises the Marketing & Communications team.
Essential Functions
Strategic Leadership:
- Partner with the Senior Pastor and Executive Leadership to implement the Church’s vision, mission, and strategic initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and execute five-year strategic plan to fulfill Senior Pastor’s vision.
- Oversee the annual strategic planning sessions for the church. Ownership of strategic plan communication to all levels of the church.
- Translate ministry goals into operational plans and measurable outcomes.
- Lead organizational planning, prioritization, and execution across ministries and departments.
- Monitor performance and operational effectiveness of the church (KPI’s).
- Develop actionable business strategies and plans that ensure alignment with short-term and long-term objectives developed in tandem with the Senior Pastor.
- Monitor KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) with tracking and establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports, both current and forecasting.
Marketing & Communications:
- Lead the Marketing & Communications Team by providing leadership, guidance, direction and oversight of day-to-day activities of the Marketing & Communication Department to ensure the Marketing & Communications initiatives align with the organization’s strategic goals.
- Manage the Marketing & Communications Departmental Staff, performance metrics, and collaborate across departments to drive brand awareness, member engagement and growth.
- Provide coaching and feedback to the Marketing Director.
- Review and approve all marketing content, communication, and promotional material.
Operations Management:
- In conjunction with the Operations Leader, develop and implement efficient systems, processes, and policies.
- Ensure smooth coordination between operational and ministry teams.
- Support planning and logistics for church wide events, services and special initiatives.
Staff Leadership & Development:
- In conjunction with the People & Culture Department, develop and implement leadership structures, accountability systems, and support leadership development.
- Lead leadership team meetings (monthly/quarterly) ensuring alignment, communication and momentum.
- Foster a healthy staff culture that is aligned with the church’s values and mission.
Ministry Integration &Support:
- Ensure ministries are resourced with the systems, tools and support needed to succeed.
- In conjunction with the Ministry Leader, work together to streamline processes and remove operational barriers and are collaborating and moving in a unified direction.
- Identify gaps, redundancies, or misalignments across ministries and operations and bring resolution.
- Provide project management support for major ministry initiatives.
Sunday Experience:
- Ensure ministries are resourced with the systems, tools and support needed to succeed.
- In conjunction with the Sunday Experience Leader, work together to streamline processes and remove operational barriers.
- Provide project management support for major church wide initiatives.
Government & Compliance:
- Support the work of the Senior Pastor and Elders through operational insights and reporting.
- Prepare reports, agendas and materials for board meetings, implement board decisions operationally.
- Oversee ministry plans and churchwide calendar to ensure alignment with the strategic plan.
- Lead multi-year church-wide strategic initiatives including but not limited to – brand transformation, campus planning and upgrading the guest experience.
- Analyze internal operations and identify areas of process enhancement to support the overall strategy.
- Maintain and build trusted relationships with key members, clients, partners, and stakeholders.
- Adhere to church, federal, state, and local business requirements, enforcing compliance when necessary.
- Assist in serving in worship services.
- Manage key leadership meetings to assist in execution of strategy
- Attend and successfully complete all training as required by Concord Church.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:
- This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Christian leadership, nonprofit management or related field.
- 7-10 years of leadership experience in operations, administration, or executive management.
- Masters’ degree (MBA, MDIV, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
- Experience in nonprofit, church, or mission-driven organizations preferred.
- A solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics.

Physical Requirements
- An employee in this position primarily works in a typical office environment, and uses computers, calculators, phones, printers, and other office equipment to fulfill the position duties.
- An employee in this position is required to walk, hear, speak, and stand to inspect the property and interact with staff, church members, and volunteers.
- Work is conducted in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- The ability to manage stress, build professional and collaborative relationships, and reason through complex church business situations is required.
- A flexible schedule is required since this position requires evening and weekend work.
Travel Requirements
A valid Texas drivers’ license and acceptable motor vehicle record is required.
