Mission: Heritage Church exists to make disciples who make disciples.
Role Description:The Worship Leader will oversee and lead the music and worship ministry of the church, cultivating a culture of authentic worship that connects people to God through contemporary Christian music and creative expression.
Hours Part-time: Flexible Schedule - approximately 15-20 hrs/week.
Qualifications
Spiritual
- A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and commitment to the church’s mission.
- Agreement with the church’s statement of faith.
- A life that demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23).
Musical/Technical
- Proficient in vocals and at least one instrument (guitar or keyboard preferred).
- Experience leading contemporary Christian music.
- Ability to direct a band and vocal team.
- Strong understanding of worship technology (sound, lighting, tracks, ProPresenter, etc.).
Leadership
- Effective communicator and team builder.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Collaborative spirit with pastors, staff, and volunteers.
- Adhere to applicable church operational policies.
- Ensure Child Abuse Prevention policies are followed.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Worship Leadership
- Plan and lead worship services in alignment with the church’s vision and theology.
- Select songs that reflect biblical truth and engage the congregation.
- Lead weekly worship services and special events (e.g., Easter, Christmas, community outreach nights).
- Encourage participation and spiritual growth through worship.
2. Team Development
- Recruit, train, and mentor volunteer musicians, vocalists, and tech team members.
- Schedule and lead weekly rehearsals.
- Foster a spirit of teamwork, humility, and excellence.
- Provide pastoral care and encouragement for worship team members.
3. Administration and Coordination
- Collaborate with pastors and staff to plan and execute services.
- Manage worship budgets and oversee equipment needs.
- Utilize planning tools (e.g., Planning Center) to organize song sets, media, and service flow and schedule teams.
- Ensure copyright and licensing compliance (CCLI, streaming, etc.).
4. Creative Arts and Media
- Partner with the Technical Director on lighting, visuals, and sound for a cohesive worship experience.
- Explore creative ways to incorporate Scripture, prayer, and storytelling into worship.
- Assist in producing social media worship content, devotionals, or short worship videos.
Preferred Experience
- 2+ years in worship leadership in a church setting.
- Formal training in music, worship arts, or ministry (preferred but not required).
- Familiarity with worship artists like Elevation Worship, Maverick City, Hillsong, or Bethel Music.
Time Commitment and Compensation
- Part-time
- Compensation commensurate with experience and responsibilities.
- May include Sunday services, rehearsals, and special events.
