Position Overview

The Worship Director is responsible for leading and developing the worship ministry of Weirton Alliance Church in a way that aligns with the church’s mission, culture, and theological values. This includes planning, coordinating, and leading worship services, cultivating a team of musicians, vocalists and tech team members, and creating an atmosphere that draws the congregation into authentic, Christ-centered worship.

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead and oversee all aspects of Sunday worship services.

Select and arrange worship music that aligns with sermon themes and seasonal rhythms.

Engage the congregation and foster participation through spoken transitions, Scripture, and prayer.

Recruit, audition, train, and develop volunteer musicians, vocalists, and tech team members.

Schedule rehearsals and coordinate team availability.

Provide spiritual encouragement and accountability to team members.

Use worship planning software to organize services.

Collaborate with the pastor and other ministry leaders on service flow and creative elements.

Manage the worship equipment needs and media resources.

Technical Oversight.

Coordinate sound, lighting, lyrics/projection, and livestream needs.

Ensure all equipment is functional and properly maintained.

Creative Input.

Help develop special services and creative elements.

Qualifications

A growing and mature relationship with Jesus Christ.

Musical proficiency in at least one instrument and vocal ability.

Leadership experience in a worship setting (volunteer or paid).

Familiarity with worship technology (soundboards, ProPresenter, in-ear monitors).

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

A heart for discipleship and team-building.

Agreement with the church’s core beliefs and values.
