Next Gen (Kids or Student) Intern

The purpose of The Hills Church is to make and grow followers of Christ. We do this together by being with Jesus, becoming like Jesus, and doing what Jesus did.

The purpose of Next Gen Ministry is to equip and activate the next generation to love God with all their hearts, souls, minds, and strength and to love their neighbor as themselves by engaging every family and elevating community.

The purpose of the Next Gen Intern is to serve as a leader and champion of the Next Gen purpose, vision, and strategy in Kids Ministry and/or Student Ministry.

Primary Responsibilities

• Spirit Alignment - Prayerfully and humbly listen to the Holy Spirit with an obedient posture, cooperating with the move of God

• Deep Discipleship - Disciple the next generation to encounter God through worship, the Word, wonders, and development of a Christ-centered worldview leading to a resilient walk with Jesus

• Mission Mobilization - Mobilize the next generation to discover and participate in the Mission of God every day, instilling in them a sense of passion and purpose as witnesses to the world who pray, give, and go

• Family Engagement - Equip and partner with all families in every circumstance to firmly establish a God-given sense of identity in the next generation

• Community Elevation & Leader Development - Organize our ministry around small groups of intergenerational relationships to give the next generation a sense of belonging as part of a life-giving faith community by equipping and activating leaders

Specific Requirements

• Commit to a weekly spiritual development time with Ministry Supervisor

• Spend time in Bible study and personal growth (identify growth areas and be committed to development)

• Support Next Gen Ministry programming

• Attend kids and/or student events and experiences (Bible study groups, weekly Gathering, camps, retreats, special events, etc.)

• Assist in planning and leading out missional opportunities for our Next Gen Ministries

• Assist in overall ministerial responsibilities when appropriate and as needed

• Work with interns across campuses to plan summer events

• Leadership and leadership development skills appropriate to the scope of the role

• Self-motivated and vision led

• Committed to families and equipping the next generation

• Effective communication and listening skills

• Proven project manager with strong attention to details and administrative skills

• Team player and team builder who focuses on the good of the entire organization by cultivating a healthy, vibrant, life-giving culture
