Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with First Baptist Arlington in Arlington, Texas as they search for their next Discipleship Minister (Formation). First Baptist Arlington is a multigenerational, mission-minded church with a deep commitment to intentional discipleship, theological depth, congregational engagement, and helping people flourish as they follow the way of Jesus. The church is currently implementing a strategic discipleship vision designed to shape every ministry area around a clear pathway of spiritual formation.

The Discipleship Minister (Formation) will play a pivotal role in advancing the church’s intentional discipleship strategy across all age groups, from Preschool through Adults. This leader will serve as the key bridge between vision and execution—helping translate churchwide discipleship priorities into practical ministry systems, leader development pathways, curriculum alignment, and measurable spiritual growth. Success in this role will be demonstrated through stronger alignment across ministries, healthy staff development, and increased congregational engagement in discipleship.

The ideal candidate will be:

Proven Developer of Leaders

Demonstrates a strong history of mentoring, coaching, and developing ministry leaders, staff members, and volunteers. Invests in people and helps them grow in both leadership effectiveness and spiritual maturity.

Approachable, Visible, and Identifiable Leader

A relational, engaging, and emotionally intelligent leader who builds trust through a strong pastoral presence, remains accessible and approachable, and thrives in a ministry environment where being seen, known, and actively connected with ministry leaders, staff, volunteers, and the congregation is essential to advancing discipleship and fostering unity across the church.

Champion of the Discipleship Journey

Fully embraces and advances First Baptist Arlington’s discipleship framework of Saved, Shepherded, Shaped, and Sent. Able to develop intentional pathways that promote spiritual growth across every generation of the church.

Collaborative Team Builder

Works exceptionally well across ministry departments and leadership teams. Demonstrates the ability to unify efforts among Formation, Worship, Engagement, and Operations ministries.

Relational Intelligence and Pastoral Maturity

Builds trust quickly, navigates complex relationships wisely, and provides thoughtful pastoral leadership during seasons of growth, change, and ministry development.
