Job Overview

Amity Bible Church (ABC) is seeking an Equipping Pastor who will be responsible for overseeing budgets, planning, strategic, and tactical goals for the ministries under the Equipping Ministry umbrella. The Equipping Pastor will serve the Body of Christ at (ABC) by overseeing processes that facilitate connection into church-life and that serve to mobilize followers of Jesus to multiply themselves by becoming mature disciple-making followers of Christ. The Equipping Pastor will provide leadership, management, structure, and vision that will equip various parts of the Body of Christ for works of service. In addition, the Equipping Pastor will serve as part of the Teaching Team alongside the Senior Pastor and will provide pastoral care in various other areas as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee the following ministries:
Men, Women, Children, Youth, Young Adult, Marriage, Christian Education to include Wednesday Night Bible Study, Adult Sunday School, Small Groups and others as assigned.
Serve as a contributing member of the Executive Team

Lead alongside Senior Pastor:

Oversee scheduling and implementation of Spiritual Development Courses
Be available to support walk-in ministry needs, respond to crisis situations, make hospital visits, and support benevolence requests/processes as needed

Active member of the Teaching Team

Teach Wednesday Night Bible Study
Teach Adult Sunday School (as needed)
Others as required
Develop, propose, review, manage and approve Equipping Ministry budget requests
Serve as an active member of the Executive Team
Provide pastoral services such as counseling, officiating weddings or conducting funerals as needed.

Additional Responsibilities/Expectations

Active participant in the community by being part of and/or leading a Small Group

Regular attendance and contributor to Staff Team Meetings

A responsible manager of time during the week, maintaining consistent office hours and communicating with staff while away from the office (Ministry outside the walls of the church)
Attend all church-wide services

Relationships

Reports to Senior Pastor for accountability, support and communication of ministry plans and objectives
Regularly interacts, collaborates, and works successfully with Elders, Deacons, other Pastors, Directors, Ministry Leads and volunteers (Team Player)
Must interact well with stewards (members), and the community

Staff Expectations:

Every staff member is responsible for communicating effectively, building a culture of leadership development and multiplication by being an Equipper of ministry, and supporting the Vision, Mission, Values, and Strategy of (ABC) publicly and privately.

In addition, every staff member is expected to:

Put Jesus first and at the Center: A growing, vibrant, and intimate relationship with God is essential for ourselves, our families and those we are responsible to serve, and is an expectation for all pastors and staff at ABC so that we will minister out of the overflow of our intimacy with Christ. A disciplined, daily-time with Christ (incorporating spiritual disciplines) along with a consistent day of Sabbath are critical to ensuring our identity is found in Christ alone (and not primarily in the success of ministry).
Establish Healthy Boundaries: Having rhythm, balance, and a regular time to rest is vital to our success in ministry. As we minister, let us do so by setting a healthy example.
Serve with Joy: We serve the Lord with Joy, and His Joy is our strength. As Joy fills us, laughter and enjoyment are evident in our lives.
Maintain Family as High Priority: Our relationship with our spouse and/or family should be healthy and thriving. Our families should be flourishing under our love and leadership, with Christ at the center.
Make a Home in the Community: Staff are expected to live within the DFW Metroplex and actively working for the peace and prosperity of our community beyond the church.
Equip People: Work hard to establish healthy relationship with others as we lead, love, support, and serve alongside in ministry. We do ministry with a team approach and see ourselves as equippers of God’s people.
Continual Learning: We should be consistently growing and evolving in our practices and methodology of ministry, regularly learning new ways of being and doing ministry.

Minimum Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Bible or Theology or 10 years as Pastor, Associate Pastor or some equivalent position in a Christian church in lieu of degree.
2+ years staff supervisory experience
3-5 years of ministry experience serving either as part-time or full-time on ministerial staff in areas of disciple making and development, spiritual formation, small groups development, Christian Education, Sunday school or Bible study class instruction and supervision

Preferred Experience

Master’s or Seminary Degree
